​Local Solo Competition
Up to age 18

The Aloha International Piano Festival proudly shines a spotlight on Hawaii's exceptional young pianists through its in-person Solo Competition, open exclusively to local residents.

 

This in-person event takes place in Honolulu during the Festival week and offers students an opportunity to perform live, connect with peers, and receive valuable feedback from distinguished Festival Artists.

Date of the 2026 Local Solo Competition: June 6, 2026 in Honolulu, HI.

​

Application Deadline: Applicants must submit their completed application by 11:59pm HST May 1, 2026. 

​

Entry Requirements: & Repertoire Applicants may be no more than 18 years of age by June 6 and must reside in Hawaii. Completed applications must include high-resolution color photo, as well as their application fee. For repertoire requirements, please see here

Applicants, ages 9 - 18, who also wish to be considered for the International Piano Academy must submit a separate Academy application. The same repertoire may be used, provided it meets Academy requirements: two contrasting works of the applicant’s choice, performed from memory.

Non-refundable application fees:

US$80 – Junior & High School

US$50 – Levels A & B

The following prizes will be awarded as follows:

1st Prize Level A: $100

1st Prize Level B: $200

1st Prize Junior:  $300

1st Prize High School: $500

​

1st place winners of Level B, Junior, and High School divisions will have the opportunity to perform in a masterclass with a Festival Artists during the week.

 

1st and 2nd place winners (all levels) will be invited to perform in the Honor’s Concert along with students of the International Piano Academy.

International
Amateur Solo Competition
Ages 30+

The Aloha International Piano Competition welcomes adult amateur pianists—age 30 and above—from around the world to participate in its in-person International Amateur Solo Competition. This division celebrates non-professional musicians, offering a supportive stage for pianists whose primary income lies outside of music to share their artistry.

 

This in-person event takes place in Honolulu, HI and offers amateur pianists an opportunity to perform live, connect with peers, and receive valuable feedback from distinguished artists.

Date of the 2026 International Solo Competition: 

June 6, 2026 in Honolulu, HI.

​

Application Deadline:  Applicants must submit their completed application by 11:59pm HST May 1, 2026. Only completed applications will be accepted. 

​

Entry Requirements & Repertoire: ​The International Solo Amateur Competition is open to all domestic and international non-professional pianists aged 30+. Applicants must be at least 30 years of age at the time of application submission. Applicants must submit a video recording via YouTube ​of up to 15 minutes of any solo work of the applicant’s choice (memorization is not required) along with their completed application, including a high-resolution color photo and a bio up to 150 words, as well as their application fee. 

​

Applicants who also wish to be considered for the International Piano Academy must submit a separate Academy application. The same repertoire may be used, provided it meets Academy requirements: two contrasting works of the applicant’s choice, performed from memory.

Travel & Lodging: Applicants attending the International Amateur Solo Competition are responsible for their own travel and accommodations in Honolulu; lodging recommendations are available upon request.
