Aloha International Piano Festival & Competition

Amateur Competition

The AIPF Amateur Competition will take a break in 2022.  The Competition will resume in 2023.

The Amateur Competition is designed to celebrate the life-long love and practice of piano playing and to provide a goal for every participant.  While awards will be given to outstanding participants, the main purpose of the event is less on the competition than on the sharing of musical experience with fellow participants and the audience.  We expect and encourage participants of all backgrounds and levels, and each participant should set his/her own goals for the event rather than focusing on winning the competition.

The 2021 Amateur Competition will be held virtually and we invite non-professional pianists 30+ to enter.  The jury of the AIPF Amateur Virtual Competition will consist of world-renowned pianists, Jon Nakamatsu (Gold medalist, Van Cliburn Competition), Thomas Sauer (Mannes College of Music), and John Bayless (artistic director, Waring International Piano Competition).
