Rules & Regulations

  • All pieces must be performed from memory (except for amateurs).
  • No cuts or editing are allowed for the works performed.
  • Repeats indicated in the score are optional.
  • Video recordings may be paused between each piece, however each work on the video must be a continuous and unedited performance.
  • Any recording over the allotted time will not be penalized but will not be judged.
  • Re-submission of video links are not allowed after the video submission deadline. 
  • Repertoire changes for live applicants are permitted.  Change(s) will be accepted via email until June 1, 2024.    
  • Applicants whose programs do not meet the repertoire requirements may be disqualified.
  • All video and audio recordings, as well as photographs and interview made during any of the events at AIPF will remain the sole property of the Aloha International Piano Festival.
  • Judges’ comment sheets will not be provided.  However, applicants have the option to enroll (for an additional fee) in the AIPF eAcademy, an online program to receive live feedback from the judges on their video performance.  https://alohapianofestival.org/festival/piano-e-academy/
  • Live-round in Honolulu will be open to the public.  
  • Competitors competing in the live-round must be ready and willing to perform earlier than their assigned time due to any cancellations or reassignments.
  • Competitors waive all claims and fees for the broadcast of their competition performances and/or video applications on radio, television, or on the internet, either live or recorded. The Aloha International Piano Festival reserves the right to video tape/record all rounds of the Competition for its own archives, and to use such recordings and/or application videos at any time without payment of fees or royalties to the performers.   
  • Changes in the arrangements for the Competition may be made by the President and/or the Board without prior notice.
  • The decisions of the Jury are final and are not subject to question, review, or appeal.
