A New Opportunity for Hawaiʻi's Young Pianists!
Aloha Piano Lab
One of the most rewarding moments of this year's Festival was the launch of Aloha Piano Lab a new initiative created especially for Hawaiʻi's young pianists.
Inspired by the extraordinary talent showcased during the Festival's inaugural Local Solo Competition, Aloha Piano Lab, held at Mission Memorial Auditorium, provided select students with the opportunity to work directly with Festival Artists Jon Nakamatsu and Robert Koenig in an exclusive masterclass experience focused on artistic growth and mentorship.
The program reflects the Festival's commitment to investing in Hawaiʻi's next generation of musicians and creating meaningful opportunities for local students to learn from world-class artists.

Learning, Growing, and Making Music Together
Festival Masterclass
A highlight of Festival Week was the Aloha International Piano Festival Masterclass, where Academy students worked directly with Festival Artists Jon Nakamatsu and Robert Koenig in an inspiring afternoon of musical discovery and artistic growth.
As audiences witnessed during the public masterclass, great teaching has the power to unlock new ideas, deepen understanding, and transform performances. Students received thoughtful guidance on interpretation, technique, communication, and artistry while gaining valuable insight into the creative process.
Particularly inspiring was the participation of the Festival's amateur pianists, who joined younger Academy students in demonstrating that the pursuit of musical excellence is not limited by age or profession. Their commitment to lifelong learning and continued artistic growth embodies the spirit of the Festival and serves as a reminder that music can enrich our lives at every stage.
